People Like Us is a photobook by Holly Revell, exploring trans, non-binary and GNC (gender non-conforming) identities and experience from AFAB (assigned female at birth) perspectives.

It’s an archive, it’s a photography book, it’s a collection of stories.

Created over 7 years, the book embraces 58 people from a rich variety of backgrounds and gender diversity. Layered with individual and collective experience, it indulges in positive and joyful representation of these personalities.

The book is composed of 370 photographs, a journal with over 18,000 words of participants’ reflections, a specially commissioned text titled ‘AFAB to Transmasc Genderqueer Time Map © Serge Nicholson - Baby Butch to Non-Binary Time Map © Libro Levi Bridgeman’ by hotpencil press and a text by Holly titled ‘This is Me’. The book also incorporates audio featuring 14 participants; accessible via a QR code on the bookmark which is included in the book.

The book is lithograph printed throughout, with a two-colour fluorescent pink and matte gold cover that draws it’s texture from a photograph of chest binding tape. The covers french flaps unfold to reveal a close up of a hairy chest with surgery scars. Inside is a 196pp section of photography on 130gsm gloss paper and 48pp of text on 100gsm Munken Print Cream.
