Having not picked up a camera for almost 2 months due to lockdown, I was tasked to take to my friends and neighbours doorsteps one hot week late May to make some socially distanced portraits for Pride Inside a grassroots campaign created to showcase our community in all its diverse and beautiful unity, ensuring that we were not hidden away this summer in spite of pride events being cancelled due to Covid 19.
“Now more than ever it is crucial that LGBTQ+ people from all walks of life are visible and proud in our public spaces. LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately more likely to experience difficulty with their mental health, with isolation being a key factor in that. Pride Inside is an opportunity to remain as proud and visible as ever and send a message to LGBTQ+ people everywhere - you’re not alone.“
From the 15th - 28th June these beauties and many more besides are appearing online and on Clear Channel UK’s advertising screens across the UK celebrating LGBTQ+ people as they take up public space and mark Pride from the safety of their own homes.
Thank you Ginger Johnson for having such a brilliant and ambitious brainchild and to co-founder Domonic Falquero and all the team of volunteers who helped make this happen.
